Metriq started from a plain problem: property owners paying the utility bill for buildings full of tenants, with no easy, fair way to bill each tenant for what they actually used.
Metriq connects a smart meter on every tenant supply to a billing platform that reads it, prices it on your tariff and invoices it: automatically, every month.
It is designed around how South African buildings are actually billed: municipal tariffs that change every July, time-of-use and block structures, bulk supplies with common areas behind them, and tenants who want to check their usage on their phones.
Metriq is owned by Lohan Jansen and is running in production today.

On time, every month
The job is simple to state: accurate, auditable invoices in every tenant’s inbox, every month, without anyone touching a spreadsheet. Everything else serves that.
Every number traces back
Invoices are built from timestamped readings on a named tariff plan. If a tenant asks where a figure came from, there is an answer.
We never hold your money
Tenants pay you, not us. Metriq is a metering and billing service; it does not collect or hold tenant funds on your behalf.
